In 1852, satisfied that her late husband's business was being carried on by his sons, Louisa and four of her children decided to emigrate to Australia to find a new life in the Colonies. Arriving Victoria in May 1852 on "Diana": Louisa Edkins (52), Catherine (22), John (13), Edward R (11), Mary Sophia (6).
Louisa EDKINS died at Croydon Road, Croydon NSW on 3 May 1882 and was buried at Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney NSW Aust on the 5 May 1882. Louisa was 82 years of age. George Frederick EDKINS' name (aged 58) is listed on his mother Louisa's death certificate. Also listed are Clement (55), Charles (49), Edward Rowland (42), Mary Sophia (37) living; 5 males & 2 females dec'd; making a total of 12 children born to Thomas EDKINS (1789/90-1849) & his wife Louisa (nee WINTON) (1800-1882). The informant was Mary Sophia Clark - daughter.
