Thomas EDKINS died on 1 August 1849 at 1 High Street, Bridgnorth in the County of Salop (Shrops), Eng and was buried at St Leonards, Bridgnorth. Robert WEDGWOOD of High Street, Bridgnorth was in attendance and was the informant stated on his death cerificate. The 1851 Census records the family still living at No 1 High Street, Bridgnorth, with Louisa as head of the family, a Printer employing two men, and born in Somerstown, Middlesex. Clement and Charles have become Printers and Maltsters and Thomas Oliver has married and become a Law Stationer. Also living there, or visiting were Louisa's daughter Louisa Ann with her husband Robert WEDGWOOD aged 26 and Surveyor of Taxes, born in New Town, Yorkshire and their three month old daughter Mary L .Wedgwood. Robert EDKINS' daughter Mary Ann aged 4 is also visiting.

In 1852, satisfied that her late husband's business was being carried on by his sons, Louisa and four of her children decided to emigrate to Australia to find a new life in the Colonies. Arriving Victoria in May 1852 on "Diana": Louisa Edkins (52), Catherine (22), John (13), Edward R (11), Mary Sophia (6).

Louisa EDKINS died at Croydon Road, Croydon NSW on 3 May 1882 and was buried at Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney NSW Aust on the 5 May 1882. Louisa was 82 years of age. George Frederick EDKINS' name (aged 58) is listed on his mother Louisa's death certificate. Also listed are Clement (55), Charles (49), Edward Rowland (42), Mary Sophia (37) living; 5 males & 2 females dec'd; making a total of 12 children born to Thomas EDKINS (1789/90-1849) & his wife Louisa (nee WINTON) (1800-1882). The informant was Mary Sophia Clark - daughter.
