This explores the relationship between predators (lions), herbivores (antelope) and vegetation (grass). Set up how many lions and antelope you want, how fast the grass should grow, and how often the antelope have babies (birth rate). Click on
Step simulation
as many times as you want, watching how the numbers of lions and antelope change, and how the grass gets eaten, and regrows. Can you work out what's happening, and why?
Now change one of the set-up numbers (say - how fast the grass regrows). Step the simulation again. Is something different happening? Why?
