Alium is the formal name for the onion family. They grow from bulbs. There are ornamental aliums.
The large pink alium seems to grow ridiculously tall and then flop over. But it is very popular with bees, and anyway, I like ridiculous plants. These flowered June-July.
The small white alium is Allium paradoxum, known as Few-flowered Garlic or Few-flowered Leek. I'm not sure where it came from. It is flowering in April. I've been warned that it is invasive!
