Cyclamen grows from tubers. Some flower in spring, and some in autumn. The autumn variety flowered from September to November - very welcome as there aren't many flowers in my garden at that time of year! A different variety flowers in the spring, starting in February.
Cyclamen may flower when there are no leaves at all (see first photo - the green is, regretably, bindweed). The leaves show in some of the other photos. They are mottled.
