Flowers - Hyacinth

Hyacinths grow from bulbs. These flowered in March.

Hyancinths are a sentimental flower for me. When we first got the garden, it had a lot of hyacinth bulbs, which only put out a couple of flowers each. They looked a little silly! I think the old lady who owned the house before us used to have them in a bowl for Christmas, then planted them out in the garden afterwards. They gradually disappeared, so we got some new ones. We will see if they gradually get less flowers as well!

Hyacinths should not be confused with grape hyancinth which are a different species, and much smaller.
