Flowers - Rose - Masquerade

Return to Rose index

This is a rose called Masquerade. I think it is a floribunda, with lots of flowers on a single stem, but with small and simple individual flowers . However, the plant in my garden is rather small and doesn't produce many flowers. It flowered May-June and then started flowering again August into September.

I remember this flower from my suburban childhood in the early 1960's. It was fashionable at the time, and every front garden was a riot of red and yellow. So this is another nostalgic plant. The flowers are sometimes yellow, sometimes red, and sometimes a mixture, and sometimes you get red and yellow flowers on the same stem. Rather vulgar, I'm afraid, but then I have vulgar tastes!
