Two colours, stocking stitch, double rows

This uses stocking stitch and two colours.

If you want to use two colours, then you have to do an even number of rows for each colour. The reason for this is that after doing one row of both colours, the first colour is at the wrong end of the row to carry on knitting!

I have not done a left-handed version of this. If you are left-handed, imagine the pictures as after you have turned the knitting round, to start the next row.

Here is how to introduce each ball of wool. As it is stocking stitch, each alternate row is knit, or purl (regardless of which colour is used).

Make sure that you don't get the wool of the different colours muddled up! They are rather apt to get twisted round each other if you aren't careful.

The front shows the smooth side, with neat rows. The back is knobblyYou get this odd effect of dotted lines, where the wool in one row hooks round the previous one. There is definitely a right and wrong siide to this knitting!
