English Maltese lace matThis mat has a Maltese cross in the middle, but the tallies are thin and long rather than the normal Maltese shape. It is also not cream silk. So it is likely to be English Maltese lace. It is made of two pieces stitched together, an outer piece with the tow roes of flowers, and a central piece with the Maltese cross. The Maltese cross is in cloth stitch. Then there are flowers with tally petals, with Torchon ground between. The headside has plaits. |
