Bedfordshire lace - lappetThe Oxford English Dictionary defines 'lappet' as "an appendage or pendant to head-gear of any kind; esp. one of the streamers attached to a lady's head-dress." The patterns use half stitch, cloth stitch and tallies. The legs are simple twisted pairs rather than plaits. This collar is too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show about half of it above (but the pattern repeats).
