Machine lace mat

This was bought, new, from Nottingham Lace Fair (a lace museum) in 1990.

This is an imitation of a bobbin lace mat. But the edges show that it was made by machine in a bigger piece, and cut to shape. It has been hemmed to stop it fraying.

This piece is too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show part of it on the right. The entire piece is photographed below to show its shape.
