Maltese lace matThis is some modern Maltese lace. It is made of two pieces stitched together, an outer piece, and an inner piece including the flowers in the corners. I think it is made of rayon rather than silk. It is certainly coming to pieces badly! (And not just the sewing of the lace onto the centre material). The lace does not have a Maltese cross, but it is embroidered onto the central material. There are flowers with petals made from tallies. There are twisted pairs connecting things, rather than plaits. This piece is too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show pieces of it on the right. The entire collar is photographed below to show its shape. |
