This is a single corner. Print six copies and join them to make the edge of a hexagonal mat. You may need to add extra grid for the middle of the sides.

There is a problem with making a hexagonal grid mat with square corners, as the grid would prefer a corner of 120° rather than 90°. Here is one solution - to put a fan in the corner, taking the pairs of threads from one side of the mat to the next. This gives a rough indication of a fan for the full width of this grid. If you have a narrower edge (by leaving off the outer pins), then you will need to work out how many pin holes along the outer edge for the fan. You may wish to curve this outer edge as well, to make it more fan-like.
