Artist: Gabriel Metsu
Dates of artist: 1629-1667
Nationality: Dutch
Pillow: domed, flat back, on a base, sloping towards lacemaker, on lacemaker's lap.
Bobbins: with bulbs on end, on pillow, not many bobbins
Comments: Another lacemaker not concentrating on her work! Perhaps the fashion for painting lacemakers had moved on from concentrating on work (as a virtue) to genre paintings, showing stories. It is possible to see a drawer in the back of the pillow, which probably kept things useful to lacemaking.
Gabriel Metsu painted more than one lacemaker.
