Artist: Caspar Netscher
Title: The Lace-maker
Date: 1662
Nationality: Dutch
Pillow: domed, flat back, sloping towards lacemaker, on lacemaker's lap.
Bobbins: with bulbs on end, on pillow, reasonable number
Comments: You can see a good light (important for lacemaking) coming over her shoulder. It would come from a window. She may have her feet on a stool, but this is hidden by her skirt. She seems to be putting in a pin, or possibly tightening the threads, but she seems to be left-handed. The painting is in the Wallace Collection, London.
