Flowers - Clover
Clover is a perennial. They are usually a wild flower, often growing in grass, but these are a garden variety. These flowered in May and June, but there was also a second flowering in the autumn.
I bought these on a stall at Strawberry Fair (an annual Cambridge event). I tend to buy plants at such stalls, just to see what happens. It has the effect that they tend to flower at the event's time of year, as growers often like to sell plants in flower. This is definitely a strange plant, straggling a bit, but I like it. It has a reasonably long growing period. I know that some of the photos make it look like a lupin, but it doesn't, really! It's much smaller, doesn't form seed heads in the same way, and has a floppy stalk. The leaves and flower head are longer than ordinary clover.
