Pattern 306 - Hexagons surrounding snowflakes

Binche lace is worked on a a hexagonal grid, like Bucks Point. It has different grounds, including snowflakes. The following pattern is not a Binche pattern. I used it to practise hexagons surrounding snowflakes.

Bobbins: 20 pairs

Style: Binche (sort of!)

Stitches:
   cloth stitch and twist
   cloth stitch
   half stitch
   picot
   twist pair

Details:
   cloth stitch hexagon surrounding snowflake (green, yellow and red)
   half stitch hexagon surrounding snowflake (green, yellow and blue)
   cloth stitch hexagons surrounding snowflakes ground (green, yellow and red)
   half stitch hexagons surrounding snowflakes ground (green, yellow and blue)
   solid cloth stitch (red)
   picots and passives headside (grey and pink)
  

Description:

Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace. Please note that some of the pins round the body of the snowflake are not part of any stitch. They are placed between two twisted pairs. This helps to shape the structure of the ground.
