Nuw Modelbuch is a mid 16thC lace pattern book. This is my attempt to reproduce one of the patterns.
Pattern:

Bobbins: 20 pairs
Style: Torchon
Stitches:
half stitch
cloth stitch and twist
Details:
Torchon ground (grey)
Torchon ground (pink)
Description:
Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace. The Torchon ground is worked without pins (except round the edge) as the original attern shows no holes at the centre of the stitches. Add pinholes if you prefer!

This is the original pattern. The text says something like "Rose pattern and squares with 40". The "40" is the number of bobbins (not pairs). It shows that rose ground was known this early.
