Description:
Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.
Remember to twist pairs as they leave the cloth stitch hearts.
The headside looks a little odd. I assure you that it is a conventional scallop headside, just a very small one!
Between the hearts is a single unit of triangular ground. This fits the space rather well!
The hearts are coloured by the worker pair, so make sure that you use the same pair as workers throughout the pattern. You may need to wind on more coloured thread to the bobbins than the other bobbins because of this. Being a worker always uses up more thread. The hearts do not touch the start or finish, so you will need to start the coloured pair in the right place (which is marked in pink), and lead it to the right place at the start of the heart.
This is quite a striking design, despite being simple and not using many bobbins. For a Valentine's day card, perhaps? Or a lace wedding anniversary? That is the 13th, by the way!
