Description: This pattern has a complex fan. The edge of the fan has the workers and edge passe pair worked as cloth stitch and twist, as in this decorative edge. There are 4 passive pairs that stay in the fan rather than the normal single pair. There is a hole in the fan, caused by one of the passive pairs becoming a second worker pair, so it works one side of the hole while the normal worker pair works the other side. This is the same principle as upwards chevron and downwards chevron. There are some twisted passives on the right side of the hole. I have marked the pairs (as a single line) on the pattern to help you see what's going on (I hope!).
