Cloth stitch is like weaving. I wondered if you could get an effect of tartan.

Bobbins: 15 pairs (12 one colour, 3 other colour).

You need to start the coloured threads in the right place, as marked.
The zigzag changes worker every so often. This happens at the "point". Rather than doing cloth stitch, pin, cloth stitch, just do cloth stitch, pin, and discard the old worker pair. When the worker pair that is discarded is purple, it goes to the edge, then returns to become worker pair again later. (That happens with the orange worker pair as well, but it's less noticeable.)
