You could work it all in one colour if you wanted. The red pair needs careful treatment to make sure it travels in the right direction! You needs lots (and lots!) of green thread wound on the bobbins. I ran out and had to do as much again, tying on more thread with a slip knot.
This lace is started and finished with an edge pair doing cloth stitch and twist right across every other pair.
