Midland Lace patterns for beginners

Click here to find out about equipment for lace making, and how to set up your pillow, and make lace.

These patterns are for people who want to learn how to make Midland bobbin lace. There are different styles and traditions of bobbin lace. Midland lace is also known as Beds, Bedford or Bedfordshire lace. It uses plaits or braids, rather than grounds or nets.

The patterns have numbers on them. These are in the order that I designed the patterns, and have no other significance!
