A plait uses 2 pairs. Usually a crossing of two plaits (which involves 4 pairs) uses a lazy or windmill join. However, in figuring out some Le Pompe patterns the plaits join seems to have had a hole in the centre, so this is my attempt to produce a more open join. See pattern 329.
Description: This is not possible to describe using the cross/twist system, since eight bobbins are involved.
Working: There are four pairs, 2 from each side. All stitches are cloth stitch and twist. Work the middle two pairs, then the left two pairs, then the right two pairs. Put a pin in the middle, and work the middle two pairs. This is similar to cane ground without the cross-overs.
