Pattern 107 - Offset stars

This is more of a Christmas ribbon than a Christmas tree decoration. Perhaps it could be used to decorate a card. Click here for more Christmas decorations.

Description:

Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.

This is a development from pattern 106. The 'stars' are framed by single pairs rather than solid cloth stitch. These coloured lines give the effect of a gimp, but they are pairs. All stitches in this pattern (apart from the footside) are the same - half stitch, pin, half stitch. The different effects of Torchon ground and Kat stitch come from the directions that the pairs move in. The strange meandering of the coloured pairs happened because I did not want to double up at any point (as you can do with gimps). Playing around with lines produced this odd effect, which I quite like.

The passives of the cloth footside are green, which helps to frame the whole lace, but you can make them the same as the background colour if you wish. I have used metallic gold thread for the background, and sparkly red and green threads for the other colours. You can try different colours or effects or combinations of colours if you wish.
