I tried out several ideas in this pattern, which you can spot if you look closely at the photo. To start with, there was only one picot per bead, at its widest point, and between the beads was just footsides without passives. Towards the end, I changed this bit to having two picots (so three per repeat). This is the version in the pattern above.

The other change was at the real footside. Near the beginning, there are twice as many pins at the very edge, and there isn't a pair parallel to the edge at all times. gain, I changed it as in the pattern, as that seemed to give a neater look.

This is based on a pattern found in the Museum of Cambridge (a folk museum). Pattern 338 is another version. This version is closer to the original, as there are two lines of beads either side of the diamonds. But it is still different, as the diamonds are smaller, and the beads more conventional. There are less piots, too!
