Description:

Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.

Remember to twist pairs as they leave the cloth stitch hearts before joining the ground.

The different colours of the grounds, and the colour of the numbers at the top where the pairs start, show what coloured threads should go where. This was one of the first patterns that I designed. I was trying to colour the hearts red, by making sure that all the workers and passives in the hearts were red, and all other threads would be yellow. So the pattern leads the correct coloured pairs to the correct places by careful choice of Torchon ground (where pairs swap over) and double Torchon ground (where pairs remain on the same side). Later I found out that you could colour a cloth stitch heart (or any other solid cloth shape) by having only the workers that colour. The passives could be a different colour. Since every stitch involves the workers, that colour dominates the shape (cue sound of slapped palm of hand against forehead...) That simplifies the problem a lot. All you have to do is get the worker pair to the top of each shape. Still, this is an alternative. I've not sure if it works the way I wanted, but it has its own interest.
