Pattern 529 - Sycamore Gap

This is an attempt to illustrate the Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall. The rose ground and the triangular ground represent the hills and the twisted hole ground the sky.

Pattern:

Bobbins: 12 pairs (2 pairs dark green, 10 pairs pale green)

Style: Torchon

Stitches:
   half stitch
   cloth stitch
   cloth stitch and twist

Details:
   triangle ground (green)
   rose ground (green)
   scallop with long stem (pink)
   Torchon ground (grey)
   twisted hole ground (red)
   Winkie pin twisted footside (pink)

The scallop (representing the tree) is conventional, except it has made a long stem in the middle. This requires two pairs to cross in a couple of places, with a Torchon groun stitch in the middle of the stem.

I started both dark green pairs where it says "3", and taken one fark green pair across all other pairs to get to the other side. If you prefer, you can ignore this and do a simple start:
