Description:
Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace. It may seem strange that the curving lines are merely thin strips and zigzags, but I assure you - that is all they are! This circular grid makes straight lines into curves. Apart from starting and finishing, this is a very simple pattern to work, once you've worked out what's going on!
The start is along a diagonal, so one pair starts at each pin. Above, I have marked where the pairs actually start work in the lace, but since they are on a diagonal, it might be best to treat the previous row of pins as false pins (marked as pink). Click here to see how to start and work this type of circular shape. Click here for how to finish an edge.
Use any thread you want. Sparkly or metallic thread is lovely. But if you can't find any, then perhaps use a Christmas colour, like red or green. (Remember than green won't show up against a green Christmas tree!) Or yellow or orange to represent gold. Or just use white, and it is still pretty.
This pattern is an extension to pattern 90 and pattern 91, but by taking half the pattern, and reflecting it, we get new shapes.
