Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.
Having tried (and failed) to produce convincing points in a headside in pattern 187, this was a different idea. It is more like the semi-circles in pattern 184 and pattern 185, but made into triangles. See pattern 184 for the basic principle of the headside.

Apart from being a different shape, there are a couple of other differences. First, there is not a passive pair between the outer and inner part of the fan. Instead, the inner workers (blue) do a stitch with the outer workers (pink), then move along to do another stitch with the end of the next row of pink workers. The pink workers need to have more rows than the blue workers, and this is one way to do this. Follow the lines in the pattern! All stitches are cloth stitch and twist, and if you think that a pair has to travel too far to get to the next pin hole, then do an extra twist or two, to strengthen it.
The other difference needs careful looking at the pattern. The thick dark grey lines are plaits, not single twisted pairs. In fact, this whole pattern is a mixture of plats and single twisted pair. Sometimes the plaits cross over, and then you need a lazy join. Sometimes a single pair crosses a plait, and then you need a join - 2 pair + 1 pair. Sometimes a plait and a single pair goes into a junction, and 3 pairs come out (or vice versa). This means that the area between the spider and rose ground is not Torchon ground, but a mixture of plaits and single pairs.
